A SCOTCH, NEAT
Setting up a home bar or bar cart is a fun project. Sure, a collection of pretty bottles and glasses are necessary for chic vignette, but so is a functioning bar. You should know the difference between a Scotch served "neat" or "on the rocks." Also want to know the difference between sweet or dry Vermouth? How about how to make a proper Whisky Sour? If the answer is yes, I highly recommend The Essential Bar Book, An A to Z Guide to Spirits, Cocktails, and Wine. It easily describes all the nuances of classic drink recipes and the ingredients in them. It is a nice looking hard bound book (a good styling element for your bar cart) and more importantly, it is a fun, yet informative read. You can also discover a new favorite like my husband did, a New York Sour. It is an old fashion drink that is similar to a Whiskey Sour, but with red wine. See you learned something new already!
